You don’t really need to read this before getting in touch with me, but if you do you’ll have a better understanding of what’s involved in ordering an artwork. Whatever you do, I’ll make sure you understand and are happy with any service I offer you.

I pursue a relationship with my clients based on trust, honesty and fun. I enjoy working in teams from a variety of professional backgrounds and in different environments.

How to order an Illustration

In order to create for you what you are looking for, I will need to know the following information. Please, this information should be as accurate and detailed as possible for me to fulfil your desired results.

  • What is it and what is it for?
  • How many illustrations do you need?
  • What size?
  • When do you need it?

When you order an illustration, I discuss with you exactly what would suit you, and send you a contract with a licence to use the illustration as agreed. If you’d like to see all the formal terms and conditions ahead of time, just let me know and I’ll send them to you.

How to order an Original Artwork

Thank you for considering commissioning an artwork. Having an original piece of art created on your behalf can be one of the most rewarding experiences, and something to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

The information below outlines my process, and the steps involved in commissioning a painting/drawing.

1. CREATE THE SUBJECT

I can work from photos, or come up with my own ideas.

For example, you might have a specific person you would like me to paint, and in this case I would love to work from your photographs. Often I am approached with ideas about a favourite plant, or a theme, without a particular individual in mind. In these cases I am happy to find my own reference photos, or come up with my own subject matter based on the theme.

2. DEVELOP CONTEXT: COLOUR, MATERIALS AND LAYOUT

I love artistic freedom. This means that if you don’t have any concrete ideas about things like colour, art materials and layout, I am happy to have the freedom to come up with these things on my own.

If you do have a concrete idea, and image in mind, I’d love to help create your vision and welcome this collaboration. Communicating all your ideas before I start painting is especially important if you already have a visual in your mind. Pointing out which of my artworks you like will also be very helpful, as I work in a few different styles.

If you’re not yet sure what you would like, I’m happy to present some ideas to you and work from your feedback.

About the materials, have in mind that, as a mixed media artist, I normally use minimum two of the following: graphite, watercolour, coloured pencils, ink, markers, fine liner, acrylic. I don’t use oil painting. Please, let me know if you have a specific preference or if you want me to go with the flow of creativity and choose the ones I consider the best for your commission.

I’ll start with a rough sketch to study composition and colour palette. The price of the commission includes this sketching process. Once I send you the sketch by email, we can discuss and amend it if necessary. The price includes 2 changes on roughs. If you need more than 2 sketches to agree with the layout of the final piece, those will be added to the final price separately.

Please note: It is very difficult to change something once it is painted. I can try my best to accommodate any little changes you request once it is painted, but major changes can not always be made without starting a new painting.

3. ESTABLISH SIZE

Let me know your prefered size. If you are not sure about sizes, I’m happy to provide some advice for you, having in mind the subject of the work you want me to create and the space you will choose to place it. For guidance, these are the most conventional sizes I work with:

  • DIN A3 ( 29’7 × 42 cm)
  • DIN A2 (42 × 59’4 cm)
  • DIN A1 (59’4 × 84’1 cm)
  • 50 x 70 cm
  • 56 x 76 cm
  • 100 x 70 cm
4. DETERMINE DEADLINE

My turnaround time is factored around a few things, including my work load and your deadline. Please convey if you have specific time restrictions.

I create highly detailed artwork, and it can take me several days or even weeks to complete a painting.

5. MAKE A PAYMENT

I require a 50% down payment to start, with the remainder payable upon completion, before shipping.

Pricing is factored around a few things, including subject, size and deadline. Once I know all the details of your commission, I’ll send you a price quote that will include the shipping costs.

6. RECEIVE YOUR ART!

I am happy to provide photos of the work in progress and preview of final piece for your approval before shipping. Alternatively, you can also opt to keep the whole thing a surprise until delivery.

I ship internationally from UK (shipping prices vary depending on location).
